Preface

The familiarization with real navigational hardware devices in a simulator environment and not on board during vessels operation increases the ships safety and efficiency. Improved software skills like route planning and monitoring on ECDIS stations are substantial for professional mariners. Training and exercising these skills in a full mission simulator with realistic scenarios is an extreme advantage. It will increase the reliability and performance of the human resources on board as well as safety and security of the vessel.

Objectives

Basic skills: Design, layout and confi guration of bridge equipment.
Advanced skills: Correct use of integrated bridge hardware, possibilities and limitations of modern navigational equipment.

Content
  • Training with approved hardware devices from Raytheon Anschütz, Sperry Marine VM-FT or Transas.
  • Familiarization with different bridge layouts (components of different manufacturers if required) and equipment.
  • Alarms, limitations and misinterpretation.
  • Voyage Planning, Route Monitoring.
Certificate FAM-BRIDGE course certificate issued by MET
Comments Depending on customers needs, Bridge Familiarization can be conducted on equipment, produced by Raytheon Anschütz, Sperry Marine or Transas. Course duration and complexity depends on customer requirements and participants
state of knowledge. Combination with other courses and topics is feasible.
