Preface	The Global Maritime Distress and Safety System increases efficiency as well as safety and security on board of seagoing vessels. The basic knowledge of the legal aspects, the structure of the system and the practical usage must be trained accordingly to ensure a professional communication standard on all oceans.
Objectives	Basic skills: Theory and legal aspects. Advanced skills: Practical exercises of handling emergencies of all kinds.
Content	GMDSS theory and legal aspects. IMO GMDSS equipment standards. Practical applications. Managing emergency situations and communication procedures. Simulation of complex scenarios in different conditions with various types of equipment.
Certificate	GMDSS course certificate issued by MET
Comments	Course duration and complexity depend on customer requirements and participants state of knowledge. Combi- nation with other courses and topics is feasible.
