Preface The ECDIS systems on board of ocean going vessels are a substantial prerequisite for captains and watchkeeping officers as a primary navigational aid. Official electronic charts in appropriate, type approved infrastructure will replace paper chart in the next years continuously. With proper use and knowledge about system limitations, potentials and legal foundation it will help to increase efficiency as well as safety and security on board.

Advanced skills: Special functions and features.

  • Various chart data formats and their presentation.
  • Legal aspects.
  • System configuration and passage planning.
  • Limitations and misinterpretation.
  • Applying the entire ECDIS system with its components, functions and add-ons.
  • Radar / AIS overlays.
  • Simulation of complete voyages and practical application.
  • Application training based on different ECDIS manufacturers.
Certificate IMO Model ECDIS course certificate issued by MET
Comments Course duration and complexity depend on customer requirements and participants state of knowledge. Combination with other courses and topics is feasible.
